Engineering Comparison: Hot Rolled vs. Folded (Pressed) Angles
When calculating structural load limits, engineers strictly evaluate how the angle bar was manufactured to ensure maximum safety margins:
- Hot Rolled Angle (True Angle): Forged as a single solid piece without weld joints, hot-rolled angles possess a dense molecular structure. Crucially, they feature an internal "Fillet Radius" (slightly rounded inner corner). This curve is vital in structural engineering because it distributes weight and prevents stress concentration (Stress Concentration) at the joint, offering vastly superior load capacity compared to pressed sheets.
- Pressed/Folded Angle: Custom-fabricated by bending flat stainless steel sheets with heavy brake presses. The corners are sharper. It is ideal for architectural trims, custom dimensions, or thin-gauge specifications not available in standard hot-rolled inventories.
